Learn how to make pots using a traditional Potter’s Wheel on this beginners pottery workshop. A professional ceramist from Sunken Studio will introduce you to the basics of throwing and teach you how to make pots using a Potter’s Wheel. You’ll practice throwing cylindrical pots and learn how to centre, open, collar, pull, shape, finish and wire off your finished work.
This taster course includes access to a wide range of custom-made tools and resources that have been designed, and made, by Sunken Studio.

This is a pottery throwing experience using a potters wheel.
Where is it? Sunken Studio is a 10 minute walk from the City Centre, easily accessed by public transport & you can get the free water taxi from Leeds Train Station to Leeds Dock. The studio is a 2 minute walk from Leeds Dock, Sheaf St. (Duke Studios), The Tetley & The Royal Armouries. On the same road as Leeds Discovery Centre.
Length of experience The Pottery Throwing Experience lasts 2.5 hours with 15 minutes for refreshments at the beginning of each session.
What you need to know This experience is for adults (18+) only.
This experience is available on selected Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year.
Finished works, fired and glazed (where needed), will be available for collection from Sunken Studio within 28 days after the session. If you are unable to collect we can arrange for your work to be delivered for £10 per address.

The Leeds Pottery Throwing Experience is run Sunken Studio. A Leeds business run by award-wininng ceramicist Rebecca Catterall. Rebecca has been working with clay for over 25 years.
Rebecca is a fully qualified and experienced tutor and has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. She has received several prizes and awards for her work. Rebecca has devised and delivered creative programs in a range of educational settings, both formal and informal.
