This week starting 21st June is World Wellbeing Week, as this awareness week has been fast approaching I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting about what ‘wellbeing’ means and how can we achieve positive wellbeing. In a nutshell, well-being is just feeling well and this of course includes body and mind. A recipe for happiness for a lot is a sense of purpose, prosperity and healthy relationships. During lockdown most people have suffered from a loss of one or all of these and have experienced a dip in our mental health and wellbeing, now more than ever is a time we need to practice self care. But again, how do we do that? I recently read a fabulous article explaining the 20 – 5 – 3 theory. It goes a bit like this:
Wellbeing and self care is personal and subjective, but also universally sought by everybody. This is my go to list to boost physical and emotional wellbeing. It may be right for you or you may find joy in going to a smash and destroy – rage room (and that is completely fine too)!

Infrared Sauna and Floatation Tank Session
When I was living in Sydney, Australia, I was obsessed with going to my local floatation centre, it is an experience out of this world and one I think everyone should try. They are designed to detox, cleanse and relax. My first experience in one they told me I could leave the lid up which was very much the intention, within a minute I was locking myself in without any concern of claustrophobic feelings and zoned out for the entire hour. The ability to feel shut off from everything else outside, enhances your ability to be cognitive, mindful and introspective.
I believe setting is everything and at this centre you don’t have to worry about heading into a bustling city centre, Redmayne Lodge is set in Strensall, York.
