An exclusive axe throwing session for a group of Viking warriors. A fantastically fun group activity for corporate days out, birthday get togethers or hen and stag groups. You’ll have a private bay at York’s first indoor axe throwing venue with a dedicated Viking coach for your party.

Players are given approximately 20 minutes to warm up and practice.​ The awesome coaches will work with each individual, ensuring everyone is trained in one and two handed throwing. Then, let the competition commence:

  • Two Vikings throw at the same time.
  • Each player throws an equal number of times per round.
  • Players score each time their axe sticks the target
  • Total highest score crowns the Viking or Viqueen at the end.

Minimum group size is 8 people, maximum 12 people.

York Indoor Group Axe Throwing Experience takes place at The Hilt on Goodramgate in York city centre. York’s first indoor axe throwing venue for friends and family.

At The Hilt, we believe fearlessness is fun, and nothing is more fun (or honestly satisfying) than hurling an axe through the air and sinking it into a wooden target less than 4 meters away. We want to thrill and excite, but most of all, we want to bring people together to celebrate discovery, belonging and adventure!

What you need to know

What will I get? You will receive a voucher to redeem against any of the future York Indoor Group Axe Throwing Experience.

Anything I should know?

Safety is taken extremely seriously. All throwers are enclosed in a cage, with dampening pads above, below, and on the ground in front of targets.
Spectators stand behind a secure partition while awaiting their turn, and axe coaches are present for the entirety of the session to ensure rule adherence.
In addition, the naxes and targets are checked before each session to ensure their integrity.
Minimum age to participate is 13. The axes weigh 1.6 kgs (3.5 lbs) and the participant must be able to hold the axe safely unaided.
Viking outfits are preferred, but normal clothes are more frequently favoured. No open toed shoes or loose hair please.

How long do I have to book? You’ll have a total of 12 months from the date of purchase – 6 months to activate your voucher code, and 6 months from activation to book your chosen experience.

Can I exchange it? All of our vouchers are fully flexible. The recipient may swap to another experience if they don’t want the one that has been suggested.

How will it arrive? Our eco-friendly voucher boxes are available for £4.50 and will be sent via Royal Mail first class post. PDF e-vouchers are FREE and emailed shortly after ordering.
