When we started the business we were passionate about promoting Yorkshire because we love living here and love the diversity of the landscape and the people. As the business has grown and we have had the opportunity to think about what other factors are important to us as a business we have taken steps to actively support the things we care about.

Make It Wild

Make it Wild was started 12 years ago as a family project by the Neave family – Helen, Christopher and their three children. Becoming more aware of the negative impact humans were having on the planet, the family wanted to create more wild spaces to encourage biodiversity and allow nature to flourish. Within their nature reserves they offer a range of activities, volunteering opportunities and also allow businesses and individuals to offset their carbon footprint.

We love what Make it Wild is working to achieve and want to support them in any way we can.

Ecologi

Ecologi helps businesses and individuals to be climate positive. They have responsibly funded planting 58M trees globally. Uniquely Local have signed up to a monthly subscription service with Ecologi to help us lower our impact on the climate.

The Green Web Foundation:

One day the Internet will run entirely on renewable energy. The Green Web Foundation believes that day should be within reach, and develops tools to speed up the transition towards a green Internet.

Uniquely Local uses a green hosting provider, which means it is run on renewable energy.

SME Climate Hub

The SME Climate Hub is a global initiative that aims to mainstream climate action in the small to medium sized business community, and enable SMEs to build resilient businesses for the future.

Businesses with under 500 employees represent 90% of business globally, and affect the livelihoods of over 2 billion people. SME Climate Hub support businesses as they commit to their net zero journey to halve emissions by 2030 and to become net zero by 2050 or sooner.

BioVale

BioVale promotes and develops the circular bioeconomy across Yorkshire and the Humber. BioVale promotes our region as a thriving centre for this new, bio-based economy and helps enterprise profit from its high-growth, future-proofed business opportunities.

Daymade

We promote a selection of our gift experiences through experience prize platform https://www.daymade.co.uk/

DAYMADE was born of the belief that experiences are more valuable than money, and they work hard to offer their players a wide range of prizes that are fun and memorable. For every purchase, Daymade plant a tree with Eden Reforestation Projects.

Yorkshire Mark

Yorkshire Mark is a family of independent Yorkshire food and drink producers and champions who create a wealth of delicious, artisan locally-sourced produce, or are independent shops and avid supporters of the region’s fantastic food and drink industry. Members are able to showcase the provenance or their products using the distinctive and elegant ‘Made in Yorkshire’ stamp. Yorkshire Mark promote the regions produce through their online directory, training resources, attendance at events, marketing support and more to consumers throughout the UK. 

Indie York

York has a thriving independent scene with 65% of its businesses being independently run. Indie York supports and celebrates those local businesses in their online directory and printed map. Indie York’s (York Independent Business Association) is a not-for-profit association. At Uniquely Local we work exclusively with independent business owners and are proud to be listed in the Indie York directory.

Visit York

Visit York is the official spot to get the latest info on everything from events to accommodation in York & beyond. They work closely with local businesses to market York as a must-see, world class visitor destination, ensuring continued investment to develop the quality of tourism in York.

Through our membership with Visit York we meet likeminded businesses who share our passion for celebrating the city and wider Yorkshire region.

Chamber of Commerce

West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce have been supporting businesses for over 150 years. They aim to help businesses grow by sharing opportunities, knowledge and expertise, and have a strong business voice, influencing decision makers at all levels.

Our membership with the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce enables us to have a voice in the business community and helps our business to grow.

FSB

The FSB, or Federation of small businesses, represents small business across the whole of the UK. They provide support, advice and practical solutions to their membership community. The FSB also advocate on behalf of small businesses and the self-employed, providing a powerful voice heard by Governments and key decision makers.
