Spend a magical time at the picturesque apiary of Herd and Hive at ‘Canalside Cafe’ in Kildwick, and uncover the fascinating world of honeybees.

Participants will suit up and explore working bee hives of various sizes including one with over 50,000 live bees. The session includes an explanation of how the colony functions and the process of honey production. Attendees will also have the opportunity to spot the queen bee and learn how to use a smoker.

This engaging experience offers a fun way to learn more about honeybees. Participants will create lasting memories, capture great photos, and leave with a jar of pure Yorkshire Herd & Hive honey.

Please Note:

This course involves live bees. While every effort is made to prevent stings, it is not suitable for individuals with severe allergic reactions to bee stings.

The apiary is situated at Canalside Cafe where participants will get 10% off. Spectators are welcome to wait here.

What will I get? You will receive a voucher to redeem against any of the future Beekeeping Experience in West Yorkshire.

Anything I should know?

You will receive a voucher which can be used to book a place on a beekeeping course. Experiences run regularly between 1st May and 1st September due to weather conditions for the bees. This experience is weather dependant. Participants will receive 10% off in the cafe. Spectators are welcome to wait here.

You will be in a group with other people.

How long do I have to book? You’ll have a total of 12 months from the date of purchase – 6 months to activate your voucher code, and 6 months from activation to book your chosen experience.

Can I exchange it? All of our vouchers are fully flexible. The recipient may swap to another experience if they don’t want the one that has been suggested.

How will it arrive? Our eco-friendly voucher boxes are available for £4.50 and will be sent via Royal Mail first class post. PDF e-vouchers are FREE and emailed shortly after ordering.

Herd and Hive is owned by Libby and Ollie, who manage the farm, caring for the animals as well as producing handcrafted soaps and honey products. In addition they also run a series of soap making workshops and beekeeping courses.
