Explore over 300 years of pub and brewery history in Leeds
Fancy a pint with a side of history? This Leeds Heritage Highlights Pub Tour is the perfect blend of beer, banter, and brilliant storytelling. It’s a whistle-stop tour through 300 years of Leeds’ legendary pub and brewing past – all the flavour of the full-length tour, but in a bite-sized, budget-friendly package.
Kick things off at The Tetley, once the beating heart of a brewing empire that helped put Leeds on the beer map. Next, marvel at the tiled splendour of The Adelphi, a late-Victorian showstopper, and take a peek into the life of a 1950s brewery worker.
From there, it’s on foot through the historic streets of Leeds. Pause outside the Old Red Lion to hear a spine-tingling tale of a brewer who met a rather grisly end, and discover the city’s ‘ghost pubs’ – those long-vanished watering holes that still echo with the clink of imaginary glasses and a whisper of mischief.
The tour wraps up at the legendary Whitelock’s Ale House, serving pints and stories since 1715. With its wood-panelled walls and timeless charm, it’s the perfect place to raise a glass to Leeds’ pub heritage and hear the saucier side of local history.
Your ticket includes a half pint at each of the three pub stops – choose from hand-pulled ale, draught lager, cider, or a soft drink if you’re pacing yourself. Please note: for the sake of timing (and your legs), drinks are limited to half pints, no wine or spirits.
Perfect for: history buffs, beer lovers, Leeds locals looking to see their city in a new light, and visitors wanting a truly authentic Yorkshire experience.
Great for gifting: this experience makes a cracking gift for birthdays, Father’s Day, retirements or anyone who loves pubs, stories, and a good laugh. Cheers to that!
