Join award-winning jewellery designer, Richard Allen, at Pepper Tree Studio for a 6 hour workshop of jewellery making and discover the magic of silver clay.

In this 6 hour beginner workshop you will learn the fundamentals of working with silver clay which will allow you to create some fantastic pieces of jewellery. You don’t need any experience of working with silver clay and you don’t need to bring anything with you. All the tools and equipment you need are provided including enough silver clay, to make 2-3 pieces of jewellery. Additional clay is available to buy on the day should you wish to make something bigger.

You will be shown how to set up your workstation and how to cut, texture and refine your piece ready for firing and then enjoy the magical experience of turning your work into silver. You’ll also discover some tips and tricks for polishing and finishing your silver jewellery.

A silver chain and bail are included for you to finish your jewellery and a gift box for you to take your pieces home.

Over 12’s only for this workshop for Health and Safety Reasons.

Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Under 16’s will be unable to fire their own pieces, this will be done by your tutor, but they will still be able to take their pieces away finished at the end of the workshop.

As a master of silver clay, copper clay, and base metal clays, Richard’s work is inspired by capturing the beauty of nature, garden and marine plants and, by contrast, modern concrete structures. His passion for detail shines through in every piece, drawing on techniques like filigree, keum-boo, and the delicate craftsmanship of Japanese silver clay work. His talent has been recognised globally, with his work featured at the prestigious International Silver Accessories Contest in Tokyo and at the Galleria Legnica, Poland along with several exhibitions across the UK, including The Open Gallery in Halifax, Millennium Gallery, Sheffield, Cluster Contemporary Jewellery Exhibition in London and 2 showcase exhibitions at Forge in Hatton Garden, London.
