This photography experience is a great way to explore the sights of York, learning a bit of local history along the way, and improve your photography skills with an experienced photography teacher.
Any kind of camera is suitable for the photo walk whether it is a DSLR, Point and shoot, mobile or tablet camera.
What to expect:
The photo walk will start at York Minster with a 360 walk around. From there it is a walk down to the bar walls at Bootham and up on to the walls giving wonderful views of the city. Leaving the walls at Monkbar you will then walk along down to the Shambles taking in a little local history and photographing along the way. After the Shambles it’s a stroll down to Fossgate and through to The Merchant Adventurers Hall and the beautiful Gardens .
Continuing back to Parliament street to stop and stroll through The Shambles Market along onto Swinegate, then to Stonegate. Heading over to the Museum Gardens this will take in St.Mary’s Abbey, the remains of the Roman walls and The Hospitium before finally walking back across Lendal Bridge.

With a stop for refreshments and time to review your photos, ask questions, and talk through what you have taken. Paula will run through some theory and look at how this can be applied practically.

The Three Hour Photo Walk Experience Around York is organised by professional photographer and teacher Paula Duck. Paula loves passing on her knowledge of photography and introducing participants to the wonders of York.
With some many wonderful places and such a rich history there is always a picture to capture. York Photo Walks is about helping to develop photographic skills and knowledge and exploring and uncovering photo opportunities in York.
I have been involved in teaching photography to children and adults for many years passing on my knowledge is an enriching experience. I also love just meeting new people and talking techniques and photographic styles, I am always ready to learn and pass on my knowledge.
Various locations around York city centre.
This is a three hour photo walk.
All of our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against any of our listed experiences. The recipient may exchange their voucher if they don't like the experience they have been bought. Just see our FAQs for details.
Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult.
The walk takes approximately 3 hours.
Walks take place every Wednesday at 1.00pm.
Walks take place every Friday at 10:00 am.
Walks are restricted to small groups. Family groups are welcome.
The Three Hour Photo Walk Around York costs £90 for adults and £30 for children under 16. Under 5's are free.
