Silver Fidget Ring Jewellery Workshop – a review

Silver Fidget Ring Jewellery Workshop with Silver & Stone Jewellery

For Christmas last year I bought my mum and I a Uniquely Local voucher for a Silver and Stone Silver Fidget Ring Jewellery Workshop hoping that we would be able to use it in 2021 to spend some much-needed time together learning a new skill. We finally got to use it last week on a wet and windy Saturday in October and I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable workshops I’ve ever done.

We arrived at Helen’s cosy studio in time for morning coffee and a COVID safety briefing. The studio felt very COVID safe and everyone was spaced out sufficiently without it feeling awkward and unnatural.

After having a browse of the different textures and ring design options we got straight into the fun task of cutting our silver to size and shaping our ring from a length of solid sterling silver.

Each step of the process involved a demonstration from Helen before we worked on our own rings. Helen made sure we were all comfortable with what we were doing and was on hand to offer advice on any tricky bits. Over the course of the six hour workshop we measured and sized, sawed, shaped, filed, soldered, cleaned, sanded, polished and flared our rings learning so many new concepts and practices.

The workshop was pitched perfectly, without ever feeling too technical or too daunting. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and Helen is a great teacher. We all left with a ring that we would have happily paid money for in a jewellery shop and more than justified the price of the course.

The workshop costs £120 per person and includes all materials and tuition. Buy a voucher here.
