Calling all budding Willy Wonkas… let your imaginations go wild on this family gelato making experience. You will create your very own signature gelato ice cream at the ‘Udder One’ in the beautiful market town of Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales.
Upon arrival you will meet the ‘Chief Ice Cream Maker’ for your class and you and your children will be kitted out in chefs’ hats (hairnets for the adults as it makes them look silly!) and aprons – it’s going to get messy!
You’ll work together with your family in a small class (max 6 people per group) to make your own delicious gelato ice cream from scratch using lots of lovely local milk.
As your creamy creations are working with the magic potions that will turn them into glorious gelato you will have time for a little refreshment – milkshakes for children and hot drinks for the adults, or milkshakes all round and a biscuit or 3!

Gelato Ice Cream Making Experience in the Yorkshire Dales
The Gelato Ice Cream Making Experience in the Yorkshire Dales takes place at the Udder One at the Dales Dairy Centre in Reeth.
The owner, Simon Lacey, is the perfect host for this fabulous experience. His knowledge, expertise and love of gelato making is infectious. You’ll find the centre in the historic market town of Reeth, North Yorkshire, with wonderful views from every aspect.
Simon Lacey has been making cheese in the Dales using traditional methods for many years. He uses milk from local dairies to produce a range of cheeses including a traditional Wensleydale, a mature cheddar and various soft cheeses.
The gelato making experience takes place at the Dales Dairy Centre in the heart of Reeth in North Yorkshire.
The experience lasts approximately 90 minutes. Courses will be held on weekends, school holidays and selected week days.
All of our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against any of our listed experiences. The recipient may exchange their voucher if they don't like the experience they have been bought. Just see our FAQs for details.
This is an experience most suited to families with the emphasis on having fun. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Maximum number of children per adult is 4. Maximum group size is 6 people.
Bookings will open in February 2023. Dairy free gelato is available using lactose free milk.
Cancellation Policy:
Provided you give us 14 days prior notice before your booked date you may rearrange . If it is within 14 days, including weekends and bank holidays, we can rebook you for a 50% rebooking fee of the original cost, We have to charge this as there is a cost to us as small business in getting prepared for the day, milk booked in, lunches arranged, staff costs and the knock on effect in that places will then be required on future dates of which we are then not able to sell. All our courses are incredibly popular and book up in advance, no refunds or credit will be given.
The cost for the 90 minute gelato making experience is £36 per person, minimum group size is 2.

Vouchers are valid for one year from date of purchase.
Our eco-friendly voucher boxes are available for £3.50 and will be sent via Royal Mail first class post. PDF e-vouchers are FREE and emailed shortly after ordering.
