2 hours

  • Hidden waterfalls and atmospheric woodland trails
  • Gentle forest therapy for proper calm
  • Seasonal foraging with folklore storytelling
  • Famous Goathland scenery, minus the rush

Give someone the chance to slow down, breathe deeply and explore one of North Yorkshire’s most atmospheric landscapes on a guided forest therapy, folklore and foraging walk through Goathland.

Led by Forage Yourself Happy, this immersive outdoor wellbeing experience takes guests through woodland paths, hidden waterfalls, historic landscapes and seasonal foraging spots in the heart of the North York Moors. It is calm, curious and gently adventurous.

Goathland is a place where landscape, history and imagination overlap. Known to many as the famous Heartbeat village and home to the railway station used as Hogsmeade in the Harry Potter films, it also has a deeper, wilder side. Think old pathways, healing waters, folklore landscapes, woodland trails, seasonal plants and the kind of scenery that makes a phone camera feel wildly inadequate.

This is not a hike, route march or fitness challenge. Instead, guests are guided at a steady outdoor pace with regular pauses for forest therapy techniques, sensory awareness, storytelling, plant knowledge and moments of quiet reflection. The focus is on slowing down, reconnecting with nature and supporting nervous system wellbeing in a grounded, practical way.

Along the route, guests may explore seasonal wild plants, mushroom traditions, local folklore, waterfall spaces, woodland ecology and practical uses for foraged plants and natural materials. The exact focus will shift with the seasons, weather and landscape on the day, because nature does not always follow the plan.

This experience is ideal for nature lovers, slow living seekers, foraging enthusiasts, photographers, creatives, walkers and anyone feeling overwhelmed, burnt out or in need of proper time outdoors. No previous experience of foraging, mindfulness or forest therapy is needed.

This experience includes:

  • A guided forest therapy and folklore walk in Goathland
  • Exploration of woodland trails, waterfalls and natural landscapes
  • Seasonal foraging and nature awareness
  • Stories of local folklore, landscape history and wild traditions
  • Gentle nervous system support through nature connection practices
  • A small group setting to keep the experience peaceful and personal
  • Guidance from Forage Yourself Happy

The route includes uneven terrain, hills, woodland paths and natural trails which may become muddy or slippery depending on the weather. Participants should be reasonably able-bodied and comfortable walking at a steady outdoor pace.

Sturdy waterproof footwear is essential. Warm layers and waterproof clothing are strongly recommended, as Goathland weather can change quickly, even in summer. Guests should also bring drinking water, any personal snacks they may need and a small backpack.

Mobile phones are welcome for photos, but guests are encouraged to keep them switched off or on silent during reflective parts of the session.

Children aged 12 and over are welcome when accompanied by a participating adult.
