Aromatherapy and Artisan Soap Workshop in Penrith

Discover the traditional craft of cold process soap making in this hands-on workshop, where you’ll learn how to create beautiful, natural soap bars using sustainable ingredients and pure essential oils.

With a maximum of six participants, this small group experience offers plenty of individual guidance as you explore the fundamentals of aromatherapy, fragrance blending and artisan soap making.

Your workshop begins with an introduction to a wide selection of essential oils, their traditional aromatic properties and the principles of building balanced fragrance blends. Once you’ve created a scent that’s uniquely yours, you’ll move on to making your own batch of soap.

Using a vegan, cosmetics-tested recipe, you’ll combine sustainable plant oils with botanical colourants and your chosen essential oil blend before learning the key stages of cold process soap making. Your tutor will demonstrate how to safely work with lye, recognise when the mixture has reached trace, and know exactly when it’s ready to pour into the moulds.

Cold process soap is widely regarded as one of the most rewarding soap-making techniques, producing long-lasting bars while remaining an environmentally conscious choice. Although it’s often seen as an advanced method, this workshop has been designed with beginners in mind, making it an approachable introduction to the craft.

Your soaps will remain at the studio after the workshop to complete the curing process. After 24 hours they’ll be removed from their moulds, stamped and left to cure fully for four weeks before being labelled with either your chosen fragrance name or personalised gift names. Each bar is finished with plantable seeded paper labels that can later be planted to grow wildflowers, helping to support pollinators.
