Discover York’s best independent eateries with your local guide from York on a Fork.
Over roughly three hours, you’ll make six stops at which you’ll enjoy food samples of varying sizes and two alcoholic drinks (alternatives available). Your local guide will tell you a little about the history of York on the way round, linking it to the places you will visit and the food you will eat.
You’ll meet your guide, Ben, outside York Art Gallery and from there you will make your way across the city visiting Love Cheese, Drakes Fish & Chips, Shambles Kitchen, York Cocoa Works, Ambiente and finishing up at The Chopping Block at Walmgate Ale house.
The tour is aimed at visitors and those new to the area.

The Discover York Food Tour by York on a Fork is a new venture from Ben Thorpe. Ben started his popular food blog ‘York on a Fork’ in 2014 and has built a reputation in York and beyond as a popular food and drink writer.
Since 2018, he has worked with the York Food & Drink Festival to help in particular with their demonstration line-up and Taste & Drinks trails. He is also now a Great Taste Awards Judge for the Guild of Fine Food.

Tours take place on Thursdays throughout the month.
The tour roughly crosses the centre of York within the walls from Museum Square to Walmgate and therefore requires walking a reasonable distance. There are two steps into Drakes Fish & Chips and a small step into Ambiente.
Most dietary requirements can be accommodated with some notice.
The 3 hour food tour costs £65 per person.
