Learn to make your own chocolate bars in York, the city that smells of chocolate (if you visit on the right day!) and the home of many beloved chocolate brands and bars.
At the chocolate academy of York Cocoa Works, you and your guest will team up to create your very own chocolate bars. Together, you’ll discover the journey of the humble cocoa bean while experimenting (and tasting!) a variety of flavours to craft your perfect creations. Once the chocolate has set, you’ll package your bars ready to take home and enjoy – or share, if you’re feeling generous!
What to expect:
- Find out where cocoa comes from and it’s history
- Learn about the chocolate manufacturing process at the York Cocoa Works site
- Try a selection of York Cocoa Work’s very own white, milk and dark chocolate
- Work with your chosen chocolate to each mould and design a chocolate bar
- Flavour & Decorate your chocolate bars
- Beautifully wrap your chocolate creations to take away with you
- You will each take home a 200g chocolate bar.
Children under 5 are welcome to assist full paying participants in the creation of a chocolate bar.

This exciting York Chocolate Bar Making Experience for Two is hosted by York Cocoa Works. Located in York, a city with a rich chocolate making heritage, York Cocoa Works sits opposite the very site in Castlegate where Henry Isaac Rowntree started his own chocolate business over 170 years ago.
Making fair trade and sustainable chocolate is at the heart of the York Cocoa Works ethos and they want to share their love of chocolate and it’s diverse history with you in a range of chocolate making experiences, activites and workshops.

The experience will take place at the chocolate academy of York Cocoa Works in York city centre.
The chocolate bar making workshop lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes.
All of our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against any of our listed experiences. The recipient may exchange their voucher if they don't like the experience they have been bought. Just see our FAQs for details.
