This photography experience is a great way to explore the sights of Kings Square and the Shambles in York, learning a bit of local history along the way, and improve your photography skills with an experienced photography teacher.

Any kind of camera is suitable for the photo walk whether it is a DSLR, Point and shoot, mobile or tablet camera.

What to expect:

You will start your street photography walk in Kings Square and have a wonder down York’s most famous street The Shambles, before continuing back to Parliament street with a stop and stroll through The Shambles Market along onto Swinegate, then to finishing at Stonegate.

What will I get? You will receive a voucher to redeem against any of the future York Kings Square and The Shambles One Hour Photo Street Photo Walk.

Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult.

The walk takes approximately 1 hour

Walks take place every Tuesday and Saturday at 10.00am

Walks are restricted to small groups. Family groups are welcome.

How long do I have to book? You’ll have a total of 12 months from the date of purchase – 6 months to activate your voucher code, and 6 months from activation to book your chosen experience.

Can I exchange it? All of our vouchers are fully flexible. The recipient may swap to another experience if they don’t want the one that has been suggested.

How will it arrive? Our eco-friendly voucher boxes are available for £4.50 and will be sent via Royal Mail first class post. PDF e-vouchers are FREE and emailed shortly after ordering.

The York Kings Square and The Shambles One Hour Photo Walk is organised by professional photographer and teacher Paula Duck. Paula loves passing on her knowledge of photography and introducing participants to the wonders of York.

With some many wonderful places and such a rich history there is always a picture to capture. York Photo Walks is about helping to develop photographic skills and knowledge and exploring and uncovering photo opportunities in York.

I have been involved in teaching photography to children and adults for many years passing on my knowledge is an enriching experience. I also love just meeting new people and talking techniques and photographic styles, I am always ready to learn and pass on my knowledge.
