A wonderful gift for friends and family or a fabulous treat for yourself. Join the Cosy Cottage Soap team in their Malton workshop for a fun-filled two-hour session in making goat’s milk soap. You’ll learn the techniques for creating goat’s milk soap and make six bars of your own unique soap to take home.

Before starting, you’ll meet the goats that provided the milk and hear from Sam at Wold’s Barn in Duggleby, who will talk about her goats and the therapeutic benefits of goat’s milk.

Using the cold process soap-making method with raw, unpasteurised goat’s milk, you’ll create palm oil-free soap from vegetable oils and waxes. This natural process does not use synthetic melt-and-pour bases. You’ll personalise your soap with dried flowers, fruit, exfoliants, and fragrances.

What to expect:

  • Tea/coffee and introductions
  • Sam’s presentation about her goats and the benefits of goat’s milk
  • History and therapeutic benefits of goat’s milk soap
  • The chemistry of goats milk soap-making
  • An introduction to fragrances, botanicals and essential oils (optional addition)
  • Goats milk soap making demonstration
  • Choose your own fragrances, flowers, exfoliants
  • Craft your own bespoke goats milk soap
  • Next steps – after 24 hours (cutting the soaps) and 2 weeks (post curing)

Goats Milk Soap Making Workshop near York

Clara business owner at Cosy CottageGoats Milk Soap Making Workshops are run by the team at Cosy Cottage in Malton. Clara from Cosy Cottage started her business producing handmade soaps in the kitchen laboratory of her 350-year-old cottage in Ganthorpe, Yorkshire.

Whilst recovering from breast cancer, founder, Clara, became concerned about the harmful effects of detergents like SLS, preservatives like parabens and other additives found in many commercially produced skincare products.

Using her knowledge as a qualified chemist and an Associate of the Royal College of Science, she began by producing natural soaps free from sulphates, free from paraben and free from palm oil, from home.

In 2019 Cosy Cottage moved their manufacturing to the pretty market town of Malton. They also opened a shop in 2o20 from which they run their popular workshops.
