Join Mike from Tours of Leeds and explore over 300 years of beer in Leeds, including visits to iconic locations across the city centre. Learn about the heritage of beer in the city, whilst enjoying delicious ale along the way, all included in the price.
You will be transported back in time as you explore the city’s iconic breweries and pubs with your host Mike. Each historic venue has its own fascinating story and character. Find out how venues such as The Tetley, The Adelphi, The Duck and Drake, The White Swan and Whitelocks have contributed to the industry and shaped the city.
With opportunities to taste some of the traditional beers and hear tales of Leeds’ beer loving past whether you’re a beer aficionado or a curious novice the Heritage Beer Tour of Leeds has something for everyone.
What to expect:
- A fun and informative lesson in the heritage beer brewing process and a fascinating insight into the local history of Leeds.
- Drinks are included at each of the four pub stops – a half a pint of traditionally brewed ale or equivalent* in the first three pubs, and a pint or equivalent in the final. Ales have been curated especially to fit with the theme and the stories of the tour.

Heritage Beer Tour of Leeds
The Heritage Beer Tour of Leeds is run by Beer Evangelist and founder of Tours of Leeds, Mike.
Mike is passionate about beer! Not just the drink itself but its role in heritage, society and culture. The story of beer is a fascinating one nowhere more so than in Leeds, where there is a rich beer history and a fantastically vibrant, modern and independent craft beer scene.
Mike has been professionally trained by the Beer and Cider Academy and is a member of the British Guild of Beer Writers and Brewery History Society, founder of Festival of Brewers and National Coordinator for Tryanuary.
He first set up his tours in 2019 to share his knowledge of beer with other people and to take them on a fun and interesting journey. Less than a year later, he was awarded the Leeds and West Yorkshire Prestige Award for Specialist Tour Company of the Year 2020.
The Heritage Beer Tour takes place at a selection of venues in Leeds city centre.
The Heritage Beer Tour lasts approximately 3 hours.
All of our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against any of our listed experiences. The recipient may exchange their voucher if they don't like the experience they have been bought. Just see our FAQs for details.
Unfortunately, not all venues have step-free access and are therefore not wheelchair friendly.
The tour is for over-18s only. Many of the venues operate a Challenge 25 policy, which means if you're fortunate to look younger than 25, please make sure you have ID with you.
The tour includes periods of walking between venues. The longest walk is approx. 15 minutes. Please dress weather appropriately.
