Interior Design Day with a Professional Interior Designer

Step into the world of interior design and unlock your creativity on this exclusive workshop with York based interior designer Ella De Wastney. Join Ella in the stylish surrounds of Malmaison hotel for a full day transformative experience where you’ll dive deep into the art of designing breathtaking spaces and discover the secrets behind crafting striking interiors. Gain invaluable insights, techniques, and insider tips as you explore the latest trends and innovative practices in the industry.

What to expect on the day

The day will open with refreshments and a brief introduction from Ella where she will talk you through her journey to becoming a professional interior designer, sharing stories from her twenty year career.

She we will then discuss “How to Start Designing a Scheme “ sharing Scheme Boards from previous projects and talking through where she found her inspiration for the designs and how she incorporated colour and texture in the schemes as well as artwork and lighting. Then you will have the opportunity to design your own scheme from a brief.

The Brief

You can design a room in your home to your own brief (i.e. the look you want to achieve) or Ella can supply you with a brief if you would prefer which you can work on individually or with another person. Whichever you choose you will need to follow the same considerations of how to put a scheme together. You will talk through these as a group before you start. Ella will supply fabrics wallpapers and paint samples for you to choose from and please remember there is no pressure no one will be judging the designs. This is an opportunity to have fun and gain an introduction to interior design and how to put a scheme together for personal use or for a client.

The day is all about enjoyment while learning and being inspired!

Once the schemes are finished a delicious lunch will be served giving you the opportunity for some relaxed chat.

After lunch you will be joined by an agent and designer from Designers Guild who will talk to you about the new design collections for 2024 from Designers Guild London and Christian Lacroix Paris. You will have the opportunity to see the new collections including new fabric and wallpaper books.

Following this you will hear from a Feng Shui Consultant who will show you how to design an interior using the Feng Shui principles for personal well being.

After this fascinating session there will be Questions & Answers while sipping a glass of bubbles or juice if preferred before the workshop draws to a close at approximately 4.30pm.
