Make it Wild have a packed calendar of fantastic woodland experiences and activities in nature at their beautiful woodland sites at Bank Woods near Harrogate and Sylvan Nature Reserve near Kirk Hammerton.
Each activity is designed to give you the opportunity to learn something new or just take some time to relax in nature.
Activities include:
Natural Mindfulness Walks where you will spend an hour and a half taking a gentle walk through nature with regular intervals to take in the environment and to engage mindfulness experiences guided by Helen Neave.
Woodland Spring Awakening Day including forest bathing and a shared lunch.
Introduction to Rewilding Your Garden Workshop learn relwilding principles that you can apply in your own garden. Led by expert horticulturalist Jan Hoyland.
Seasonal Foraging discover the wealth of food and nutrition available to us outside our supermarkets. In Bank Woods, led by local experienced forager Nicola, you’ll be able to find all the ingredients to whip up your own foraged meal!
Nature Inspired Workshops – art and creative workshops inspired by nature and the ancient woodland landscape surrounding you.

Woodland Experiences with Make it Wild
Woodland Experiences with Make it Wild will take place at Bank Woods, Summerbridge or Sylvan Woodland Nature Reserve, near Kirk Hammerton.
Make it Wild was started 12 years as a family project by the Neave family – Helen, Christopher and their three children. Becoming more aware of the negative impact humans were having on the planet the family wanted to create more wild spaces to encourage biodiversity and allow nature to flourish.
“We have started this project to encourage a greater knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the natural world. We want people to share in the beauty of the wild spaces we’re creating.”
Make it Wild’s mission statement is
“It’s not our aim to protect nature, it’s our purpose.”
